How many times have you reflected on an outcome and said to yourself, "What if I knew then, what I know now?" If you are like me, there have been countless times when hind sight would have come in handy. Well, there is a way to make sure that the next time you are in the same situation you have hind sight to help you there and then, and not five minutes later when you are kicking yourself. Write it down. Hind sight is another form of "lessons learned."
Create you very own Life Lessons Journal. Start each lesson on a new page and give it a snappy short heading and a date. Describe the situation in one or two sentences and record the lessons you learned from that event in bullet point form for easy reference.
Like all of your personal development books, CDs and tapes, the true value is in the application of lessons learned. Read your journal daily and look for situations where you can apply your hind sight and new found knowledge.
To get you started with your Life Lessons Journal, review your year thus far. You are two thirds of your way through the year, which means you have experienced a great deal, and accumulated quite a lot of hind sight and lessons learned relevant to your life and your career and business. You will be delightfully surprised and pleased when your new learning automatically kicks in just when you need it, and no more kicking yourself after the fact.
